Gearing up for 2008
For me, my post-baby body was what led me to looking into Plastic Surgery. I went through labor 9 times, and am a mother to 11. Babies 9 and 10 are twins and I guess the wear and tear of a multiple pregnancy, combined with getting older, made my body seem beyond repair. When I slept my tummy would sleep next to me. lol.

My breasts got very small and would nestle in my armpits at night. No bra could give them any semblence of their former glory. I always enjoyed my breasts and missed them.

I felt frumpy and unattractive and really missed feeling confident and playful. My daughters are getting older and want them to relate to me not just as their mum but as a woman and when you look like the woman that lived in the shoe that's a bit tough.

The final factor to me deciding to go was that we have had our last baby. I have a future of fun and years of enjoying with my family and a business to build. I wanted to hit 2008 with confidence and optimism and that started with me.

Sourcing for alternatives
My poor breasts got tragic after about 5 children and I began saying I would get some new boobs back in about 1998. My tummy gave out on me once I had had the twins in 2005 and I really wanted to feel good about my body, not embarrassed. I began research in the internet in 1999. As plastic surgery became more mainstream and as I saw more results through media, I really began to see it as an option.

Surgery here in Australia is at least double in most cases more than double what it costs through Gorgeous Getaways.

I chose Gorgeous Getaways as my research led me to believe it to be reputable and I felt I needed the support they offered. I also attended the Gorgeous Getaways local morning tea which was interesting and informative. I am still in contact with the ladies I met there.

I didn't tell anyone except my kids about my trip. I didn't even tell my mother until a couple of days before I left.

Feeling pretty good
I was thinking I must have lost my mind the day before I met the Dr. I was alone in a strange country; my husband was at home struggling with the kids and it was Christmas. I was so missing my children. I decided that if I didn't feel 150% at ease that I was going to be on the next flight home.

I was picked up by Kathy and a driver and taken to meet Dr Heng. It was there once I had been able to talk about what I wanted and how I felt about my body and the things I felt bad about that really turned my anxiety around. I left feeling excited about my surgery and completely relaxed.

I woke up from surgery feeling pretty good. Dr Heng's assistant and wife Jackie was so wonderful. I really could not say enough good about Dr Heng and Jackie; they both go so far above and beyond anything I have ever encountered in Australia, in either public or private hospitals. I was up and about the second day and really did feel pretty great.

I made some wonderful friends in the other Gorgeous Getaways clients and spent every evening dining with them, we shopped together and went on tours together and looked out for each other. I was sad to be leaving such wonderful friends but was so ready to see my husband and family. I felt like a model going home. My family were so excited and happy for me and tell me almost daily how fantastic I look. Apart from all of that, I really just feel so much better about myself.

The truth about surgery overseas
I feel like I can really do anything. I feel fearless and optimistic about my future. The combination of looking better but especially feeling more confident and like the outside matches the inside.
Not that the changes are so dramatic that I look like someone else but I just look better. Clothes look so much better. I wore shorts over the weekend. I haven't worn shorts for over 10 years.
I wish everyone could have this experience of renewal. I'm like an old house that has been renovated or overhauled.
My only advice is not to give the "surgery overseas" stigmas stop you. I was better taken care of than I have ever experienced. I felt like Dr Heng's daughter - he was so caring.
Gorgeous Getaways organize everything and being in contact both before surgery and after surgery with other ladies going through various procedures was wonderful. Their experience and support were invaluable.
I have already recommended them. My twin sister is looking into surgery at the moment.
