The inside scoop

I considered cosmetic surgery about 10 years ago and have had minor fills and botox plus a lower face lift during this period. This didn't really provide the benefit I wanted. I had saggy upper eyelids and jowls, and bags under the eyes which gave me a permanent tired look. I'd also lost some weight too which left an apron of fat and had trouble losing the cellulite which wouldn't budge.

I'd done some research in Australia and on the net for overseas procedures. I've had 'inside' advice regarding procedures - my sister was a theatre nurse who had worked with some of Brisbane's top cosmetic/reconstructive surgeons
and 'told me all about it'.

In Australia, my breast reduction/lift alone would have cost between $8000 and $10,000. I found Gorgeous Getaways on the internet and did some checking on the the doctors' qualification and decided that that was the way to go. I made my decision and 'just did it'. I went alone but was not lonely when I got there because there were other patients there at the hotel apartment who were Gorgeous Getaways clients and had gone through or were going to undertake similar procedures.

The options were clear

Undergoing cosmetic surgery was the only way that I could improve my overall physical appearance. I made a decision and went for it. I had one consult in Brisbane and the surgeon advised me what it would require to achieve the results I wanted. The doctor I had in Malaysia confirmed these recommendations. I wasn't nervous about the impending procedures or traveling alone, but that's me.

I did ensure that the Australian Consulate were aware of my location and registered with SmartTravel. I didn't hide the fact where I was going and what I was doing with my family and friends. Some expressed concern and others were thrilled. But when it came down to it, it was my decision.

In good hands
The surgeon went through all the procedures with me and asked what I expected.  He was very friendly and easy going - language and communication were no problem. Most of the nusing staff spoke English and those who didn't would get someone who did. Being a nurse, I was not nervous prior to surgery but can understand how some patients would be due to the 'unknown' factor.

I went to hospital twice due to the multiple procedures I was undergoing. The doctors will not place any patient at risk. After discharge, I was well looked after by the Gorgeous Getaways staff who took care of my dressings and arranged follow-up appointments plus transport.

I had the liposuction and tummy tuck done first and went back to hospital 10 days later for the breast reduction/lift and facelift. I am one of those people who bruise easily and my thighs were tender (especially noticable when having to sit on a hard toilet seat). Although I was bruised after the facelift, I experienced little pain. My scalp's nerve endings are still repairing, therefore there is still some numbness present but no bruising and my breasts are still a bit tender (it is now 5 weeks post surgery).

I spent a month in Malaysia and there is plenty to do and see. I did a lot of shopping (August is the sale month) and some sightseeing arranged by the Gorgeous Getaways staff. But you are free to do what you want.

Free at last
I am overjoyed at the 'new me'. I did not undergo cosmetic surgery for career or other peoples' opinions. I did it for myself. I feel more confident when going out (even to the shops) because I know I look better and I don't have to wear loose clothing to cover up my 'bumps'. Most of all, I love my smaller boobs! I can now wear a strapless bra and clothing to suit. It gets very hot during summer on the Fraser Coast. My friends tell me I look great and I feel it!

Don't be afraid for any reason. If you have fears before you go, ask to speak to a past patient (including me, I don't mind). When in Malaysia, talk about your concerns with Gorgeous Getaways staff or other Gorgeous Getaways clients in the hotel, or even the surgeon. Do your homework, make a plan and follow it through.

I would recommend Gorgeous Getaways to anyone and have done so to people I talk to who have made comments about my appearance and are now considering cosmetic surgery.

If you would like to speak to Juanita or other clients, please contact us at Gorgeous Getaways.
