I am the mother of six children (grown up) and have been divorced for six years now. My grandmother died and left me some money and because I needed a lift, I used the money for mine and my daughter's surgery.

I had a gastric banding a year prior and had lost 35 kilos but still had jowls and sagging skin which was left from the weight loss. My daughter had a burn as a child and I wanted the scar improved for her and a bit of lipposuction on the 'love handles' that bothered her so much. I need to work for at least another 10 years in management positions to make me financially stable enough to retire eventually. Six children and divorce certainly makes the coffers lean. I chose Malaysia to have the surgery because of the anonymity. I could go away for a holiday and no one would be any the wiser.

Also I wanted a nice exotic holiday that my daughter and I could enjoy together.

The cost was affordable in Malaysia as it costs many times more the cost to have done in Australia. I am a nurse and had an excellent experience at the hospital in Malaysia. It was beautiful and like being in a hotel with 5 star service and surroundings.

I had excellent support from the Gorgeous Getaways team and participated in the outings they offered. I got to see Kuala Lumpur, sightsee and shop and dine out in company of the other Gorgeous Getaways guests. it was our own little support group in the hotel. The hotel was wonderful and I enjoyed the international influences of food and people.

Dream come true
The surgery went well; Dr Nasir was professional and approachable. I had one mishap of a section of stitching on my leg opening a little, but it was remedied by the Gorgeous Getaways team and the surgeon within an hour and a half.

My daughter and I had a lovely 'bonding' experience as we looked after each other and enjoyed the monkeys and the sightseeing and shopped together. We are still very close as a result.

Having surgery with Gorgeous Getaways was better than having it at home because it was more affordable without sacrificing any of the quality. It had added benefits of the exotic location and the Gorgeous Getaways team organising our sightseeing and outings. They made it easy to see Malaysia and I loved being immersed in another culture while I recovered. Not to mention the little Gorgeous Getaways support group we had going.

After having the surgery, I look 10-15 years younger and have now scored a lovely job that pays well enough to meet my retirement goals in the future. My children can't believe the change and my friends are still surprised at the results. My whole outlook has become positive and optimistic.
